Subconscious Reflections
Ink liners, graphite, charcoal and sharpie on 300gsm paper
420 x 594 mm
The work is completed grayscale and is a mis-matched composition of figures and forms that are juxtaposed through different drawing techniques.
Subconscious Reflections is an amalgamation of recorded dreams over a period of a few weeks. The main reoccurring images from the dreams were used in this piece and slotted together like a jigsaw puzzle that only the artist could make sense; however, they do make you feel. This work embodies the visual language of Holly’s perception of her dreams and how the subconscious can view the world around them. It invites the viewer to question how they perceive the world, and if investigating the subconscious could possibly alter their view of reality.
With such a fast paced world and ever changing ways of creating connections, this artwork portrays the innermost thoughts of the artists subconscious. Alongside the need for escapism from the vast technological advancements that hinder our ability to take in our surroundings.
