Urban Escapade

1:50 Scale model of a project envisioned for Fed Square.

Urban Escapade was envisioned to create a playful, judgment-free space for adults to experience the joy of childlike wonder. Inspired by an excerpt from Play in the Theory and Practice of Art by Katarzyna Zimna, which explores various definitions of “play” and its critical role in a child’s development, I found myself asking: why is play often reserved for children alone? If so much can be learned from engaging in play, why should adults feel restricted? Society tends to discourage adults from embracing silliness or spontaneity, so I wanted to provide a space that embraces those qualities without judgment.

Set under the roof of Federation Square, "Urban Escapade" invites adults to reconnect with their inner child and experience the unfiltered excitement that play brings.
